no kettle lead, in the room, heating to hot could not turn off, could not open windows, for fresh air, batroom smelled of smoke, woke up 4am very little sleep, due to being very hot, got up and left, 5 hours early, very annoyed and very tired with a 5 hour drive home

It's proximity to Sunderland where i was working. Bar and Restaurant on site. Friendl staff.
Rooms were a bbit shabby i.e. chipped work surfaces and loose fittings and old bath sealant in the bathroom.

Staff were polite. Food was good. single bed was comfortable in family room. Room was Clean.
Lack of hot water, had to run bath to get hot water in basin. managed to get 4 inches of hot water for a bath. Unmaned secluded reception, staff were behind bar, Room keys were left hanging up, easy access for potential burglars. Could feel springs in doulbe bed. Noisy water pipes through night. No Toilet paper left after maid service. No room to hang towels in bathroom, or places to put family wash bags. Tripped over carpet in bar on first night (wasn't drunk) torn carpet, informed staff of accident. next day at breakfast carpet was still sticking up. Second day at breakfast carpet still sticking up.

We stayed as a party of 9 and all enjoyed the experience. The hotel is clean and well looked after but the staff made the stay worth while. The attitude of everyone was first class and we would all recommend this hotel to anyone....

Would recommend for a transient visit
Comfy room, friendly staff, the breakfast was superb with a variety of options and cooked to perfection. Easy access to the region's major road network.
Cannot find any fault.

Friendly staff, more than adequate accommodation, reasonable price. Proximity to motorway and main roads as well as to Durham City - a fantastic place to visit.

Spacious bedroom and opportunity for either bar meals or Thai style restaurant. Retaurant staff really nice.
Attention to detail when cleaning rooms seemed to have slipped, E.G. tea residues in bottom of cups.

The Thai restaurant here is an absolute gem! Really excellent food and the prices are friendly on the wallet. Plus, the bathroom was super clean and had a powerful shower, just what I needed. Simple check-in process made traveling here easy....

fantastic access to parks and local attractions for city strolls
I had a lovely stay, enjoyed the clean and spacious room with a comfortable bed, and the friendly staff made my visit feel cute, all while being just a short distance from both Elba Park and the fine Penshaw Monument.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, room was lovely and clean
Decor and fittings slightly dated which is not important except that the toilet in our ensuite leaked from the back
